Far and away

I spent 10 days last week traveling with my love to Belize and Guatemala. We went on a bit of a whim; I can never pass up an opportunity to see the world.

We spent four days in Guatemala, staying in the tiny island town of Flores, and visiting the nearby Mayan ruin of Tikal. We climbed to the top of the highest temple, higher than the jungle treetops, so you can see far and far away, staying to watch the sunset and moonrise, until the jungle below fell velvety black, and you could see nothing except dim starlight and the light cast from our headlamps. The following day we got up at 4am and hiked again to the same temple to watch the sunrise, listening to the jungle waking up, watching the mist lift as the heat of the day set in. It was magic.

Then we went back to Belize and stayed on a tiny island off the coast called Caye Caulker, which is so small there are no cars, only bikes to get around. Days felt slow on the island, we spent our time biking along the beach, swimming off private docks, sailing, exploring, eating delicious food, and watching the sunset every night.

We grew even closer, learning the intricacies about one another you can only find out after spending every waking and sleeping moment together. We spent every morning curled together, and shared salty kisses during the day. I fell more in love with him, something I didn’t think was possible. It was just lovely, and I am so happy.

Sail away.

I want to live inside this food blog. The foods and the photography are absolutely stunning.

floating

Someone has cracked me open, has found a way in deeper than anyone before, like he’s hugging me underneath my skin, and I am falling, falling more and more every day. He’s there, looking into my eyes, holding me tight, and taking me to scary places I’ve never been. And it is hard, so hard, to be opened up like this, to be exposed raw, but he is teaching me and I am learning.

Weekend in Whis

Went to Whistler this weekend for essentially my first time (I’d been there once but I was young young) and it was so.very.great. Snowboarded on Friday, it was a gorgeous sunny day, and hot tubbing and beers in snow and easter egg hunts, and many other fun times followed! Can’t wait to get back there again.

Vacation

I was lucky enough to spend a week in Mexico with my family. It was relaxing and beautiful and the sunshine was just what I needed.

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer."
— Rainer Maria Rilke

I found a milk frother in my cupboard this morning. Except it required 2 batteries and I had none. So I pilfered batteries from where I knew I’d find some - out of a vibrator, of course. And then I had delicious, delicious coffee. ;)
