It was a pretty stressful day at work yesterday, I worked 10 hours without a lunch break, and was running around all day. I came home yesterday after work just feeling drained, drowning my sorrows in wine, and having a restless sleep full of fitful dreams.
I woke up this morning feeling like today was going to be a better day, in fact, I was determined to make it better, and indeed it was. I felt like I still needed to de-stress and calm down from yesterday though, and so right after work I went to Queen Elizabeth park, walked around on my own, breathing in the air, listening to the stillness, and just enjoying the sun on my face. I also found a peaceful garden full of gorgeous lilies and roses, and inhaled their sweet, intoxicating scents. And it was amazing how calm and re-centered I felt after spending a bit of time in nature, in the stillness. I need to realise that just rushing home and collapsing with a bottle of wine is perhaps not the best way to chill out.
I am still in my temporary home in Vancouver, with my very lovely temporary roommates, and I’ve been at my new job now for 4 weeks. I’m not sure exactly where the time is being sucked away to, but I have been loving the new change of pace, it’s exactly what I needed. Even if some days are crazy busy! I am moving into a new apartment this weekend, and I am immensely looking forward to it. My new apartment will be a block away from the ocean, the sea wall, and a park, and on the edge of downtown and all its conveniences. Just have to get all the yucky moving out of the way first ;)
